Meet JPG Law's Founding Attorney, a problem solver fueled by innovation and music
Jason Paul Gehlhausen is a senior legal executive and C-Suite adviser with over a decade of experience of developing and leading legal operations in the contingent labor industry. Jason stands out as a legal professional by seamlessly merging strategic acumen with intricate knowledge of the law. With core competencies ranging from executive legal advisement and strategic planning to sophisticated litigation management and data privacy, he brings a holistic approach to the legal domain. His prowess in labor & employment, mergers & acquisitions, and international contracting has made him an invaluable asset in the corporate landscape.
Jason specializes in multi-state labor and employment compliance. He has developed a comprehensive auditing system that assesses compliance throughout the entire employment lifecycle, from recruiting and onboarding through termination. Jason expertly tailors these evaluations to meet the stringent requirements of states with the most rigorous standards, including California, Illinois, New York, and Massachusetts.
Through JPG Law, Jason currently serves as general counsel or corporate counsel for multiple companies simultaneously, including Core Personnel Staffing Services, a staffing firm with more than 10,000 billable workers placed annually, Ardor Health Solutions, GreenLight.ai, and Bravia Services LLC. His practice spans staffing and MSP law, EOR/AOR platforms, healthcare staffing, government services contracting, SaaS products, and bioscience, across all 50 states and internationally.
Between 2012 and 2022, during his tenure as the General Counsel at BCforward, an IT services and staffing company with 5,000 employees spanning all 50 states, Puerto Rico, Canada, and India, Jason showcased exemplary leadership by overseeing multiple global teams, managing complex legal matters, and spearheading key initiatives. Jason led due diligence and integrations efforts in support of 3 successful acquisitions. He was instrumental in transforming the organization's operational paradigm, most notably pivoting to a virtual model during the COVID-19 pandemic, which resulted in a $500MM revenue in 2021, a year-over-year increase of 30%. Notably, Jason fundamentally changed the company's risk management strategies to include innovative alternatives such as high deductible policies, secondary market instruments, and captive insurance programs. In his final year at BCforward, Jason also served as Interim Chief Information Officer, taking on direct oversight of the company's technology infrastructure and operations alongside his legal responsibilities.
Earlier in his career, as a Staff Attorney, Jason demonstrated his multifaceted skills by taking charge of the complete spectrum of legal and compliance matters globally. His initiatives supported the company's rapid growth and international expansion. Jason's solo practice further underscores his versatility in the legal realm where he supported the visons of many artists, inventors, and entrepreneurs.
When not working or traveling, Jason spends most of his free time supporting local music in Indianapolis and hanging out with his two cats. He is a director for the local music festival Chreece that is held annually in Indianapolis's Fountain Square neighborhood.
Jason holds a Juris Doctor from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law and Bachelor of Science in Informatics from Indiana University Bloomington. During July 2023, Jason obtained his CIPP/US certification from the International Association of Privacy Professionals.
